Course Title:
Microsoft Access - Introduction

Duration: 2 days

Course Overview
As a new user, with little or no experience of Microsoft Access, the topics covered on this course will allow you to create and maintain a simple relational database.

Prerequisites


It is assumed only that you have a basic knowledge and understanding of the Windows environment.

Course Content


Introducing Access
An overview of the power and benefits of computer databases, some terminology
and a tour of the Access initial screen, menus and toolbars.

Relational Databases
What they are and why relational databases are useful, how data stored in different
tables can be related.

Tables
Creating tables with and without the Access Table Wizard. Setting field attributes,
defining and using indexes and a Primary Key.

Relationships
Displaying and editing relationships. One-to-One and One-to-Many links, using Referential
Integrity.

Forms
Creating forms with and without the Access Forms Wizard. Using controls such as
Combo-boxes, to enhance forms and to calculate simple expressions.

Data Entry & Editing
Adding and editing records, navigating through data, finding specific records,
sorting and filtering data.

Reporting
Creating simple reports with AutoReport and the Access Report Wizard. Changing
report definitions, printer set-up and printing.

Queries
Using queries to build new record sets, combining data from different tables
through query, building forms and reports based on query results.

Additional Topics
These will be covered as required if and when you are comfortable with the core
elements of the course and include an overview of macros, customising applications with menus and buttons.
