Course Overview
To provide an opportunity to consider and practice aspects of training for those who have a training element in their job.

Course Objectives


By the end of the course participants will:
· Have an understanding of group process and the dynamics which affect group interaction.
· Have considered the processes by which people learn and how best to choose appropriate training methods which aid learning.
· Have practiced presentation skills including the use of visual aids and have received feedback.
· Have considered the importance of clear aims and objectives for training events.

Course Content


Day One

- Introduction to the course
- The challenge of training
- How a group works together
- Theory of group dynamics
- What facilitating means and the skills needed
- Energiser
- How people learn
- The cycle of learning
- Having the confidence to train effectively
- Different training methods

Day Two

- Aims and objectives of your training session
- Choosing the appropriate training method
- Getting your message across
- Presentation skills
- Using non-verbal communication
- The theory of congruence
- Use of visual aids in training

Preparation for day three, each participant will be asked to prepare a 15min presentation on a topic of their choosing having first decided
a) Aims and objectives of the session
b) The most appropriate method to use

Day Three

- Presentations from the group
Each person will be allocated approximately 30 minutes and will receive constructive feedback from the tutor and group members. Aspects that could be improved will be noted and used later in the day.
